\u2728 Why Swissmem SEMI \u2013 and why now?<\/span><\/p>\n

With our new membership in the Swissmem Industrial Sector Semiconductors (SEMI), we are already receiving the first questions:<\/p>\n

“Why ThermodynamX \u2013 and why Semiconductor?”<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The answer is simple:<\/p>\n

Because hardly any other industry is so highly innovative \u2013 and at the same time is facing a massive upheaval when it comes to cooling.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In February 2026, the EU published an implementing regulation granting the semiconductor industry a temporary exemption from F-gas limits for certain chiller applications.<\/p>\n

This exemption will apply from 1 January 2027 until the end of 2029 \u2013 as a transitional period, because no fully suitable alternatives are currently available for some applications.<\/p>\n

This is exactly where we would like to get involved \u2013 with a focus on:<\/p>\n

Sustainable cooling solutions with natural refrigerants<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

System Architecture & Standards Competence<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Series production capability & industrialization<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Consulting & Engineering where standard solutions reach their limits<\/p>\n

There is a particular focus on natural refrigerants such as:
\nCO\u2082 (R744)<\/h3>\n

R290 (propane)<\/h3>\n
\n

We don’t see this as a “free pass”, but as a clear signal:<\/p>\n
